Ustadha Maryam Al-Rashida holds an Ijazah in Quranic recitation (Hafs 'an 'Asim) and a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Education from a recognized Islamic institution. Over the past decade, she has worked as a full-time online Quran teacher, guiding hundreds of adult sisters, reverts, and young girls across the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and the UAE.

What makes her teaching different is not just her credentials — it is her understanding of what it feels like to be a woman learning the Quran in a non-Muslim environment. She grew up in the West, attended mainstream schools, and remembers the specific anxiety of wanting to learn correctly without judgment. That personal experience shapes every class she teaches.

At Al Quran Companion, Ustadha Maryam leads the Women's Quranic Education Programme, specializing in three areas: foundational Tajweed for adult beginners who have never held a Mushaf, compassionate Quran guidance for new Muslims taking their first steps after the Shahada, and focused one-to-one sessions for young girls in an entirely safe, female-only learning environment.

Her teaching philosophy is rooted in patience and precision. She insists that no question about the Quran is too basic, and that the biggest obstacle for adult learners is not intelligence — it is the fear of starting. In her sessions, that fear consistently dissolves within the first lesson.
